Chromaroma
Chromaroma is an online multiplayer game; a kind of location-based top-trumps. Players collect places, identities, modes of transport and passengers as they travel around the city; discovering and investigating mysteries attached to different locations and building alliances with fellow passengers whilst sharing journeys. Chromaroma is created by Mudlark and backed by the digital innovation funding arm of Channel 4 (4iP).
Brief
Provide an identity that communicates the social and travel aspects of Chromaroma in a modern and dynamic way. Create a look that builds on a modernist aesthetic to establish a timeless appeal.
Approach
We developed a marque that could represent the brand at a glance, whatever it's application and at whatever size. It will frequently be seen at small scale, so simplicity was key. The resulting 'C roundel' becomes both brand marque and in-game badge that is colour coded as the team identifier.
We extended the colour palette out from the core team set, with complimentary colours; but also with a series of illustrations that start to create a set of brand assets that will evolve over time, incorporating journey visualisations and mapping.
